My mom came out to visit last weekend and her favorite dessert is sugar cookies. Since she couldn't come next weekend, we celebrated an early Halloween. We had lots of fun going to the pumpkin patch, taking a hay ride, and dressing the kiddo up in his costume. I thought it would be great to surprise her with some Halloween sugar cookies.
I wanted something a little different, and when I saw the leggy little witch cookies on Sweet Sugarbelle's blog, I knew they would be perfect. I added ghosts for contrasting color and design. The ghosts were much easier to make but I think the witch legs were super cute. I also tried her recipe for basic sugar cookies. I added almond and vanilla extract for flavor. The cookies were puffy and light, although they did spread quite a bit. I had so much fun making these and even more fun eating them. :)
