Ok, well it is famous in our family! :) I think my dad has tried almost every BBQ chicken wing recipe there is which mean that he has gone through a lot of BBQ sauce. This was a recipe he came up with, which is really funny because my dad never cooked while I was growing up. He didn't start cooking until after he retired and started traveling in the RV with my g-pa on all of their fishing adventures. I guess they got tired of eating eggs and bacon (the only thing they knew how to cook). Ha ha. Now he's hooked on searching for recipes, trying them out, and even coming up with some on his own. I hope you enjoy his BBQ sauce. We used it on pulled chicken sandwiches but it would be great on grilled chicken or pork too. The recipe uses store bought BBQ sauce, so if your sauce is already sweet then adjust the honey and sugar.
Serving: about 2 cups
1 ½ cups store-bought BBQ sauce (such as Kraft Original)
¼ cup honey
1/3 cup whiskey
1 tsp. brown sugar
½ tsp. prepared mustard
½ tsp. Montreal steak seasoning
1 clove garlic, minced
Mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. Refrigerate for one hour or cook on med-low for 5 minutes to combine the flavors before serving.
